The Cherrybark Oak (Quercus pagoda) is one of the most highly valued red oaks in the southern United States. Larger and better formed than southern red oak, the cherrybark oak commonly grows on more moist sites. Wild turkeys, gray squirrels, blue jays, deer, raccoons, and other waterfowl frequently eat the acorns from this tree. Acorn seeds germinate best in natural conditions in the spring following the autumn seed fall. Preferred zones are 6-9.
